Some functions of programs are very basic and frequently used, like going to a website in a web browser or opening a new tab; opening a document in Notepad or WordPad; opening an image in Paint, and so on. These actions can be compiled into a list called a jump list that is associated with the program.
To see an example of a jump list, right-click the Explorer icon in the taskbar and a list of common folders is displayed in a pop-up menu.
